Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly vigilant and experienced Loss Prevention Officer to join our team in the vibrant Koreatown district of Los Angeles. In this critical, on-site role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding company assets, minimizing inventory shrinkage, and ensuring a safe and secure environment for our customers and employees. As a Loss Prevention Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and enforcing loss prevention policies and procedures. Your daily duties will include monitoring surveillance systems with a keen eye for suspicious activities, conducting regular overt and covert patrols throughout the premises, and identifying potential security risks. You will actively work to deter theft, apprehend individuals engaged in shoplifting or internal theft, and conduct thorough investigations into incidents of loss. Meticulous documentation of all incidents, observations, and actions taken will be paramount, requiring excellent report-writing skills.
Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with store management, operations teams, and local law enforcement agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to security and incident resolution. Your ability to effectively communicate, de-escalate confrontational situations with professionalism, and provide clear, factual testimony when required will be invaluable. Beyond reactive measures, you will also play a proactive role by assisting in training staff on loss prevention awareness and best practices, fostering a culture of security throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor surveillance equipment and conduct floor patrols to detect and deter theft.
- Identify, observe, and apprehend individuals suspected of shoplifting or internal theft in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines.
- Conduct thorough investigations into reported incidents of loss, including interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.
- Prepare detailed and accurate written reports of all incidents, observations, and actions taken.
- Collaborate with store management, operations teams, and law enforcement agencies to resolve security-related issues.
- Provide expert testimony in court or legal proceedings when required.
- Assist in training employees on loss prevention awareness and best practices.
- Respond to alarms, emergency situations, and security breaches.
- Perform bag checks or package inspections as per company policy.
- Maintain a professional and authoritative presence to ensure a safe environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in loss prevention, security, or a related field.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate confrontational situations calmly and effectively.
- Proficiency in operating surveillance systems and other security equipment.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and data entry.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Knowledge of legal guidelines pertaining to apprehension and civil recovery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
- Valid California Security Guard license (BSIS Guard Card).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean to better serve our Koreatown community.
