Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and pruning of trees, shrubs, and hedges.
- Maintain and care for lawns, including fertilizing, aerating, and pest control applications.
- Plant flowers, shrubs, trees, and other flora according to design plans, and ensure their proper irrigation and nourishment.
- Operate and maintain a variety of landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and hand tools, ensuring they are in good working order and used safely.
- Keep grounds free from litter, debris, and hazards; sweep walkways, parking lots, and other paved areas.
- Monitor irrigation systems for proper functionality and make adjustments or minor repairs as needed.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on outdoor fixtures such as benches, fences, and waste receptacles.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as leaf removal and preparing grounds for different seasons.
- Report any major equipment malfunctions or landscape issues to direct supervisor.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture.
- Proficiency in operating various landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
- Knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, and turf management practices.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of outdoor aesthetics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid California Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in horticulture or landscape maintenance.
- Experience with irrigation system repair and maintenance.
- Pest control applicator license (e.g., QAL or QAC).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
