Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Help patients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately.
- Assist nurses with medical procedures, treatments, and examinations as directed.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe patient environment, including changing bed linens.
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any changes in condition promptly and accurately.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, promoting a positive and healing atmosphere.
- Respond to patient call lights and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
Required Skills
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability, or Home and Community Care) or Certificate III in Health Services Assistance.
- Minimum of 12 months experience as a Nursing Assistant or Assistant in Nursing (AIN) in an aged care or acute care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to assist patients with personal care and mobility.
- Proficiency in monitoring and recording vital signs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Working With Children Check (if applicable for the setting).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Further professional development courses in aged care, dementia care, or palliative care.
- Ability to speak a second language relevant to the local community.
- Experience in a rural or regional healthcare setting.
