Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on various types of forklifts (electric, propane, diesel) as per manufacturer specifications.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Execute repairs, adjustments, and overhauls on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, brakes, steering, and electrical circuits.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
- Order and manage parts inventory, ensuring availability for scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Communicate effectively with operations teams regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and safety concerns.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry advancements and equipment technologies.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Forklift Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
- Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems of forklifts.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and technical manuals.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices in equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational or technical school degree/certification in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Repair, or a related field.
- Experience with specific forklift brands (e.g., Crown, Hyster, Yale, Toyota, Mitsubishi).
- Familiarity with fleet management software and digital diagnostic tools.
- OSHA forklift operator certification (or ability to obtain).
- Welding and fabrication skills.
