Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, including prescription preparation and packaging, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
- Verify patient information and medication details thoroughly to prevent errors and promote patient safety.
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory effectively, encompassing ordering, receiving, stocking, and organizing supplies.
- Process patient transactions accurately, handle cash, and maintain meticulous sales and prescription records.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries and concerns with empathy, respect, and professionalism.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization within the pharmacy area and for all equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all pharmaceutical laws, regulations, and company policies, ensuring full compliance.
- Assist with compounding medications under the direct supervision and guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
- Educate patients on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and appropriate storage methods, as instructed by the pharmacist.
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, managing patient profiles, and scheduling appointments.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Pharmacist Assistant or in a similar role within a pharmacy setting, typically 1.5+ years.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, drug names, and medication dispensing procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, particularly when handling medications.
- Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems for prescription management and patient records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach to service.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a tidy and orderly workspace.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification or diploma in Pharmacy Technology/Assistant.
- Experience with inventory management and electronic ordering systems specifically for pharmaceuticals.
- Familiarity with local health regulations and pharmaceutical guidelines applicable in Lagos State.
- Proficiency in additional local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa) is a significant advantage.
