Career.zycto is excited to be recruiting on behalf of a thriving garden centre in the heart of Abbeyhill, Edinburgh, for an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Garden Centre Worker. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for individuals with ‘No Experience’ who possess a genuine passion for plants, customer service, and working outdoors. As a Garden Centre Worker, you will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the daily operations and ensuring our centre remains a beautiful and welcoming space for all visitors. Your days will be varied and active, involving everything from caring for a diverse range of plants to assisting customers with their gardening needs. We understand that you may not have prior experience, which is why we are committed to providing comprehensive on-the-job training. You’ll learn about different plant species, proper care techniques, merchandising, and effective customer interaction, all within a supportive and friendly environment.

You’ll spend your time both indoors and outdoors, irrespective of the weather, tending to our living inventory and helping to create inspiring displays. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily watering, feeding, and general care of plants, shrubs, and trees.
- Help with potting, re-potting, and preparing plants for sale.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the garden centre, including sweeping, tidying displays, and organizing stock.
- Support customers by assisting them in locating products, answering basic plant care questions, and carrying purchases to their vehicles.
- Unload deliveries, check stock, and replenish shelves and displays.
- Perform basic pruning, deadheading, and weeding to ensure plants look their best.
- Contribute to creating visually appealing and seasonal displays.
- Operate basic garden centre equipment safely and efficiently (with training).
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and willingness to learn about horticulture and retail operations.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.

- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
