As an Indoor Fitness Assistant, you will be crucial in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the fitness facility, maintaining a clean and safe space, and providing exceptional service to all members. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist fitness instructors and personal trainers during classes and individual sessions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitness equipment, gym floor, and changing rooms.
  • Provide excellent customer service, greeting members, answering basic inquiries, and assisting with facility access.
  • Demonstrate proper use of gym equipment to members, ensuring safety and correct form.
  • Monitor gym floor to ensure member safety, adherence to rules, and offer assistance as needed.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing class registrations, and handling membership queries.
  • Set up and dismantle equipment for various fitness activities, classes, and special events.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and emergency procedures are followed, including basic first aid where qualified.
  • Actively promote gym programs, services, special events, and membership benefits to encourage engagement.
  • Assist with inventory management of fitness supplies, towels, and amenities.

Required Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Basic understanding of fitness principles, exercise techniques, and gym equipment operation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Physical stamina and agility to perform job duties, including lifting and moving equipment.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic attitude and a genuine passion for health and fitness.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (e.g., 6 months) in a gym, fitness center, or customer service environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as Fitness Attendant, Group Exercise Instructor, or Basic Personal Training.
  • Knowledge of various group exercise formats and fitness trends.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, booking software).
  • Ability to speak multiple local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo) is a plus.
