As a Night Shift Gas Station Clerk, you will be the face of our station during the quieter hours, playing a vital role in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our customers. Your responsibilities will extend beyond transactions, encompassing everything from maintaining store presentation to assisting with inventory and ensuring security protocols are followed. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of responsibility, and a friendly demeanor, even in the wee hours. Key Responsibilities

  • Process fuel and merchandise transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Greet customers warmly, provide excellent service, and answer inquiries regarding products and services.
  • Manage cash and credit card transactions, ensuring accurate reconciliation at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, fuel pumps, and restrooms throughout the night.
  • Stock shelves, rotate products, and assist with inventory management as required.
  • Monitor security cameras and report any suspicious activities or incidents to management.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, particularly concerning fuel handling.
  • Handle minor customer complaints or issues with professionalism and escalate as needed.
  • Assist with opening or closing procedures, including preparing daily reports and securing the premises.
  • Adhere to all provincial regulations regarding the sale of age-restricted products.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work overnight shifts (typically 10 PM – 6 AM or similar hours).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and counting cash.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting (up to 20 lbs).
  • Customer-focused attitude with a willingness to assist patrons.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Previous experience in a customer service role (even non-paid or volunteer experience).
  • Familiarity with POS systems (training will be provided).
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification (asset, but not required).
