Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately transcribe dictated medical reports, including patient histories, physicals, office notes, operative reports, consultations, discharge summaries, and other medical documents.
  • Identify, interpret, and clarify inconsistencies or inaccuracies in dictation, consulting with physicians or other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Ensure all transcribed documents adhere to established formats, grammatical rules, punctuation standards, and institutional guidelines.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations and other applicable data privacy laws.
  • Utilize medical reference materials, dictionaries, and specialized software to ensure the highest level of accuracy.
  • Proofread and edit transcribed reports for clarity, spelling, grammar, and completeness.
  • Manage workload efficiently to meet turnaround time requirements and deadlines.
  • Operate and troubleshoot transcription equipment and software effectively.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with medical terminology and transcription best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Transcriptionist in a healthcare setting.
  • Exceptional listening and auditory discrimination skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Proficiency in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
