Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic, patient-centred nursing care in accordance with best practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, developing, implementing, and evaluating individualised care plans.
- Administer medications safely and accurately, monitoring for efficacy and adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate and meticulous patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, demonstrating strong critical thinking and decisive action.
- Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, healthcare assistants, and student nurses.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organised ward environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Participate in ward audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) UK.
- Minimum of 1 year post-registration experience in a general ward setting.
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in medication administration and management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- IT literacy for electronic patient records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Intermediate Life Support (ILS) certification.
- Specialised training or experience in areas such as wound care, venepuncture, or cannulation.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
- Familiarity with local healthcare policies and procedures specific to Bristol/North Somerset.
