Arapahoe Language & Translation Services is seeking highly skilled and passionate Freelance Translators to join our growing team. This is a fully remote, contract position, offering you the flexibility to work from the comfort of your home, managing your own schedule while contributing to meaningful projects. As a Freelance Translator, you will be instrumental in helping our clients communicate across linguistic and cultural barriers, ensuring their messages resonate accurately and appropriately with target audiences worldwide. We are looking for linguists who possess not only exceptional fluency in their source and target languages but also a deep understanding of cultural nuances, subject matter expertise, and a keen eye for detail.
Your work will involve translating a diverse range of content, including but not limited to legal documents, medical reports, technical manuals, marketing materials, website content, and business communications. Key Responsibilities
- Translate a variety of documents and content types from source to target language, maintaining linguistic accuracy, style, and cultural relevance.
- Conduct thorough research and utilize glossaries, style guides, and translation memory tools to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
- Review and proofread your own translations as well as, occasionally, translations by others to ensure flawless output.
- Adhere strictly to project deadlines and communicate proactively with project managers regarding progress or any potential challenges.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security for all client materials.
- Continuously develop language skills, cultural knowledge, and subject-matter expertise relevant to the projects undertaken.
- Utilize Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools effectively to enhance efficiency and consistency (e.g., Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast).
- Provide constructive feedback and collaborate with other linguists and project managers to optimize translation processes.
Required Skills
- Native-level fluency in at least one target language (e.g., Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Arabic) and exceptional proficiency in English (source language).
- Proven experience as a professional translator, demonstrating high accuracy and quality.
- Excellent written communication skills in both source and target languages.
- Strong cultural understanding of both source and target regions.
- Proficiency in using CAT tools (e.g., Trados Studio, MemoQ, Wordfast).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing error-free work.
- Strong research skills and ability to quickly grasp new concepts and terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Professional translation certification (e.g., ATA certification, equivalent national certification).
- Specialization in specific fields such as legal, medical, technical, marketing, or finance.
- Familiarity with localization best practices and content management systems.
- Experience with quality assurance tools and processes for translation.
- Ability to translate into multiple language pairs.
