Job Description

Mauritius Telecom is seeking a dedicated and skilled Technician for Repair and Maintenance to join our dynamic team in Plaine Verte, Port Louis. In this crucial role, you will be the front-line expert responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide array of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure. From troubleshooting complex network issues to performing routine preventative maintenance on our fiber optic and copper networks, customer premises equipment, and various active components, your expertise will be vital. You will work independently and as part of a team, often directly interacting with customers to resolve service interruptions and ensure optimal performance. Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshooting to identify and resolve technical faults in telecommunication systems, including fixed-line, mobile, internet, and data services.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on network infrastructure, including fiber optic cables, copper lines, and associated equipment.
- Install, configure, and repair customer premises equipment (CPE) such as modems, routers, set-top boxes, and telephony devices.
- Execute repairs on various electronic components and network elements in the field and at designated repair centers.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and industry standards during all repair and maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of all service activities, repairs performed, and equipment inventory.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers, explaining issues and resolutions clearly and courteously.
- Collaborate with other technical teams and departments to resolve complex issues and improve service delivery.
- Participate in emergency call-outs and shift rotations as required to ensure continuous service availability.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Certificate in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in technical repair and maintenance roles, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and IP networking principles.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various field conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction.
- Valid driver's license (manual transmission) and a clean driving record.
- Physical fitness to perform duties such as climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and working in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications Engineering.
