In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and continuous operation of the hospital’s physical plant, equipment, and grounds. This includes everything from routine inspections and preventive maintenance to urgent repairs across various systems such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building structures. We are looking for an individual with a strong commitment to quality workmanship, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of safety protocols, especially within a sensitive healthcare setting. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on hospital equipment, systems, and infrastructure (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues, diagnosing problems and implementing effective repair solutions.
  • Conduct minor repairs and adjustments to fixtures, furniture, machinery, and building components to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections performed, including parts used and time spent.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, hospital policies, and health standards during all maintenance operations.
  • Assist with the installation and relocation of equipment and furniture as required.
  • Monitor utility systems, including water, power, and gas, reporting any anomalies or potential issues.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hospital staff and external contractors to coordinate larger repair or renovation projects.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for emergency maintenance situations outside of regular working hours.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, properly storing tools and materials.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably within a commercial or institutional setting.
  • Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various conditions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification or vocational training in a relevant trade (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
  • Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
