Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Maintenance Officer to join our Facilities Management team. This pivotal role involves overseeing and performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks across our diverse portfolio of properties, including commercial buildings, industrial sites, and residential complexes. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in general building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. You will be instrumental in ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and longevity of our assets, contributing directly to the comfort and satisfaction of our occupants and the smooth running of our business operations. This is an on-site role that requires hands-on involvement and a keen eye for detail. You will be expected to diagnose issues, plan and execute repairs, manage external contractors when necessary, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of properties to identify and troubleshoot issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and general building fabric.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure all systems and facilities are in optimal working condition.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, prioritizing tasks effectively to minimize disruption.
- Execute repairs and replacements of fixtures, fittings, and equipment, adhering to safety standards and company policies.
- Coordinate with and supervise external contractors for specialized repairs or projects, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, material usage, and contractor services.
- Manage and maintain inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring availability and proper storage.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to property maintenance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff or facility users as needed.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in maintenance processes and property management.
- Assist in budget planning for maintenance operations and capital expenditure related to property upkeep.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Officer or similar role, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting.
- Strong technical knowledge in general building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of maintenance issues independently.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Valid driving license and ability to travel between different sites.
- Commitment to health and safety regulations.
- Fluent in English and French (both written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in a relevant technical field (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management).
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
