Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable, including data entry, invoice verification, and payment preparation.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, both physical and digital, ensuring easy retrieval and compliance.
- Prepare and process journal entries under the supervision of senior accounting staff.
- Support the preparation of comprehensive financial reports and statements, contributing to accurate financial insights.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all entries are properly recorded and reconciled.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and clients regarding billing inquiries, payment status, and account discrepancies.
- Provide essential administrative support to the accounting department as needed, including filing, scanning, data entry, and managing correspondence.
- Learn and strictly adhere to all company financial policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Actively contribute to identifying and implementing process improvements within the accounting function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts
- Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive problem-solving aptitude and a willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Sage)
