Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and budgets in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, FRS 102).
  • Manage the full audit cycle, including liaising with external auditors, preparing audit schedules, and resolving audit queries efficiently.
  • Oversee corporate tax compliance, including preparing and submitting corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and other statutory filings.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation.
  • Develop and implement robust internal financial controls and policies to ensure regulatory compliance and safeguard company assets.
  • Provide expert advice on complex corporate finance issues, including capital budgeting, mergers & acquisitions support, and financial modeling.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and financial regulations, ensuring the company's continuous compliance.
  • Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and prepare monthly/quarterly closing entries.
  • Assist with payroll processing and associated tax filings where necessary.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to provide financial insights and support business objectives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Accountant with a focus on corporate finance, audit, and tax.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/FRS 102), financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex financial concepts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Experience with specific tax planning software or corporate finance modeling tools.
  • Previous experience working within a practice environment or a large corporate finance department.
  • Master's degree in Finance or a related discipline.
