Key Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile bank statements and other balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Conduct month-end and year-end close processes efficiently and accurately.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data and provide insightful reports to management for decision-making.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and collections.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal tax regulations.
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in an accounting role.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel (advanced functions).
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective virtual collaboration.
