Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage adventure tours across diverse Kenyan landscapes, including wildlife safaris, trekking, and cultural excursions.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants at all times, adhering to all company safety protocols and local regulations.
- Provide expert commentary and educational insights on local wildlife, flora, history, culture, and geography.
- Manage tour logistics, including transportation, accommodation, meal arrangements, and adherence to itineraries.
- Handle unforeseen situations, emergencies, and customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive environment for all tour participants.
- Maintain and operate company equipment, including vehicles, radios, and first-aid kits, ensuring they are in optimal condition.
- Promote responsible tourism practices and cultural sensitivity among guests.
- Conduct pre-tour briefings and post-tour debriefings, gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
- Prepare detailed tour reports, including incident reports if necessary.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an adventure tour guide, particularly in East Africa.
- Valid professional driving license (for tour vehicles) with an excellent driving record.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Fluent in English and Swahili (both spoken and written).
- Strong navigation and wilderness survival skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Deep knowledge of Kenyan wildlife, ecosystems, cultures, and history.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, and travel extensively.
- Proficient in managing group dynamics and customer service.
- Crisis management and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Tourism, Wildlife Management, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., French, German, Spanish).
- Advanced Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
- Experience with GPS and other navigation technologies.
- Knowledge of sustainable tourism practices and conservation efforts.
