Key Responsibilities
- Prepare fields for planting, including tilling, fertilizing, and creating seedbeds.
- Plant seeds, seedlings, and bulbs by hand or with simple tools.
- Perform routine crop maintenance tasks such as weeding, thinning, pruning, and pest control.
- Operate and maintain basic farm equipment and machinery under supervision.
- Assist with irrigation systems, including setting up and moving hoses and sprinklers.
- Harvest crops by hand, ensuring quality and minimizing waste.
- Sort, clean, and pack harvested produce for transport and storage.
- Participate in the general upkeep and cleanliness of the farm premises, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve daily production targets.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (sun, rain, heat).
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 kg) and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong work ethic and a reliable, punctual nature.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices or a strong willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills in Swahili.
