Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage field and laboratory experiments related to crop science, soil health, and pest management.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret complex data using statistical software and present findings in clear, concise reports.
- Develop and evaluate sustainable agricultural practices to improve crop productivity and environmental resilience.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including agronomists, biotechnologists, and environmental scientists, on various research projects.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in agricultural science and integrate new knowledge into ongoing research.
- Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings, conferences, and to external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the drafting of scientific papers, grant proposals, and technical reports.
- Ensure all research activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and assistants.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in agricultural research (academic or industry).
- Proven experience in experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis.
- Strong understanding of sustainable agricultural practices and environmental stewardship.
- Proficiency in scientific writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, international team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a meticulous approach to research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GIS software or remote sensing technologies in agricultural applications.
- Knowledge of specific crop systems relevant to the UK or European climate.
