Job Description

An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated Agricultural Technician to join our team in Saguenay, Quebec. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular field inspections to monitor crop growth, identify pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, planters, sprayers, and harvesting equipment.
  • Implement precision agriculture techniques, including GPS-guided planting and variable rate applications.
  • Collect and analyze soil samples, plant tissue samples, and yield data to support agronomic recommendations.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of planting, cultivation, fertilization, irrigation, and harvesting activities.
  • Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers safely and according to established protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on agricultural equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities, crop inputs, yields, and observations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and best agricultural practices.
  • Collaborate with agronomists and farm managers to develop and refine crop management strategies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Agricultural Technician or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of agronomy, crop science, and soil health.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment.
  • Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) techniques.
  • Ability to perform basic diagnostic and repair tasks on agricultural equipment.
  • Excellent observation and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • Experience with precision agriculture technologies (GPS, GIS software).
  • Certification in pesticide application (e.g., Certificat de qualification en application de pesticides au Québec).
  • Familiarity with local agricultural practices in Quebec.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
