Career.zycto is seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our network of agricultural talent as an Agriculture Field Worker and Farm Laborer. This vital role is based in the thriving agricultural heartland of Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, where your efforts will directly contribute to the success of local farming operations and the broader food supply chain. As a key member of the farm team, you will be involved in a variety of essential tasks that ensure the healthy growth and harvest of crops, as well as the general maintenance of the farm environment.

Your day-to-day will involve physically demanding yet rewarding work, essential for the efficient operation of the farm. This includes planting, weeding, irrigating, harvesting, and preparing produce for market. You will also be responsible for maintaining farm equipment, ensuring cleanliness, and supporting animal care if applicable to the specific farm. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to adhere to all health and safety protocols, utilizing personal protective equipment as required. This role is more than just a job; it’s a chance to contribute meaningfully to the community, develop invaluable skills, and grow within the agricultural industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform various farm duties including planting, cultivating, weeding, irrigating, and harvesting crops manually or using hand tools.
- Operate and maintain basic farm machinery and equipment under supervision, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
- Prepare soil and seedbeds for planting, including tilling, fertilizing, and applying soil amendments.
- Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and report findings to the farm supervisor.
- Assist with post-harvest activities such as cleaning, sorting, packing, and loading produce for transport.
- Carry out general farm maintenance tasks, including fence repair, clearing land, and keeping farm premises tidy.
- Support animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health, if applicable.
- Adhere strictly to all farm safety regulations and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work collaboratively with other farm staff to achieve daily operational goals and seasonal targets.
- Handle and apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides safely and according to instructions, under supervision.
- Record basic farm data such as harvest yields and applied treatments.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks for long hours, often in varying weather conditions.
- Reliability and strong work ethic, with a commitment to completing tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices or a strong willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Attention to detail in tasks such as planting, weeding, and harvesting.
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 25kg) and stand for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working on a farm or in a related outdoor labor role.
- Knowledge of local agricultural practices and crops common in Uasin Gishu County.
- Familiarity with basic farm machinery operation and maintenance.
- First aid certification is a plus.
