Career.zycto is excited to partner with a leading agricultural enterprise in Mauritius to source a highly motivated and experienced Agronomist specializing in soil health and cultivation practices. This on-site role is critical for enhancing crop yields, promoting sustainable farming methods, and ensuring the long-term productivity of agricultural lands across various projects in Palma, Quatre Bornes, and surrounding regions. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about leveraging scientific principles to optimize plant growth, improve soil fertility, and implement innovative cultivation techniques tailored to local climatic conditions and specific crop requirements.

As an Agronomist, you will be at the forefront of agricultural innovation, working directly in the field to assess soil conditions, analyze crop performance, and provide expert guidance to farmers and operational teams. Your responsibilities will span the entire cultivation cycle, from land preparation and seed selection to harvest management and post-harvest care. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive soil analysis, including physical, chemical, and biological properties, to determine nutrient status and soil health.
  • Develop and implement tailored fertilization programs, crop rotation strategies, and soil conservation practices.
  • Advise on optimal irrigation methods, planting densities, and suitable crop varieties for specific environmental conditions.
  • Monitor crop health, identify pest and disease outbreaks, and recommend integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
  • Perform field trials and research to evaluate new agricultural technologies, seeds, and cultivation techniques.
  • Provide technical support and training to farm staff and local farmers on best agronomic practices.
  • Collect and analyze agricultural data to track performance, identify trends, and inform decision-making.
  • Prepare detailed reports on crop status, yield forecasts, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in agronomy, sustainable agriculture, and relevant regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental protection and food safety standards.
