Career.zycto is seeking dedicated and energetic individuals to join our team as Airport Ground Staff, specializing in Boarding & Baggage Handling at Kirkhill, Aberdeen. As a key member of our ground operations team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that directly impact flight efficiency and passenger satisfaction. This includes the careful and timely handling of passenger luggage, from arrival at check-in through to loading onto the aircraft, and vice versa upon arrival. You will operate essential ground support equipment, adhering to strict safety protocols and working closely with pilots, cabin crew, and other ground personnel.
Beyond baggage, you’ll be instrumental in the boarding process, guiding passengers to their flights, verifying documentation, and ensuring a seamless transition from the terminal to the aircraft. This role demands excellent attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that operates 24/7. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload passenger baggage, cargo, and mail onto and from aircraft.
- Operate various ground support equipment (e.g., baggage tugs, belt loaders, pushback tractors) in a safe and professional manner.
- Assist passengers with boarding and deplaning, ensuring a smooth and organised process.
- Verify passenger tickets and identification at the boarding gate.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, gate agents, and other ground personnel to ensure timely departures and arrivals.
- Adhere strictly to all aviation safety regulations, security procedures, and company policies.
- Conduct pre-departure checks on aircraft and equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment on the ramp and at the gate.
- Assist passengers with special needs or mobility challenges as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment, in all weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and security procedures.
- Ability to lift heavy items (up to 32kg) regularly.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- A keen eye for detail and strong organisational skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an airport or logistics environment.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or ground support equipment.
- A valid Airside Driving Permit (ADP).
- Basic knowledge of aviation terminology and procedures.
- Customer service experience.
