Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently load and unload luggage, cargo, and mail onto and from aircraft, ensuring proper weight distribution and security procedures are followed.
- Operate various ground support equipment (GSE) such as baggage tugs, belt loaders, and aircraft steps, adhering to all safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Guide aircraft to and from parking stands using marshalling signals.
- Assist with passenger boarding and disembarkation, providing clear instructions and ensuring a smooth and safe process.
- Perform pre-departure checks on aircraft and equipment, reporting any discrepancies or issues immediately.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, control towers, and other ground staff to coordinate movements and tasks.
- Adhere strictly to all airport security regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment on the ramp and within baggage handling areas.
- Provide exceptional service support, assisting passengers with special needs or queries when required.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy luggage (up to 23kg) repeatedly.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic communication skills (written and verbal English).
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- A full UK driving licence (desirable for certain roles but not always essential initially).
- Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to pass a rigorous background check and obtain an Airside Pass.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical, outdoor, or highly regulated environment.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or vehicles.
- A clean driving record.
- Basic understanding of airport operations or aviation safety protocols.
