This position demands flexibility, as airport operations run 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload luggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft.
- Operate ground support equipment (GSE) such as baggage tugs, belt loaders, and passenger stairs (after comprehensive training).
- Marshal aircraft to and from parking stands using standardized hand signals and communication devices.
- Assist passengers with special needs, including wheelchair assistance and guiding them to gates or connecting flights.
- Perform pre-departure checks and post-arrival clean-up of aircraft cabins as required, maintaining high standards of presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including baggage claim, gate areas, and equipment storage zones.
- Adhere strictly to all airport security and safety regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure a secure environment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with flight crews, control tower personnel, and other ground staff.
- Support gate agents with boarding procedures, checking boarding passes, and efficiently guiding passengers.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents promptly and accurately to supervisors.
- Ensure timely turnaround of aircraft to maintain flight schedules and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal in English).
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions precisely.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs regularly) and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, and lift for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as airport operations are 24/7.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Pass (RAIC) through a security background check.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or a customer service-oriented position.
- Valid G Class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with airport environments or general safety procedures in an industrial setting.
