Key Responsibilities
- Perform baggage handling, loading, and unloading luggage, cargo, and mail onto and from aircraft.
- Guide aircraft to and from parking stands, operating ground support equipment safely.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing support as needed.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks of aircraft and surrounding areas for safety and security.
- Operate airport vehicles and equipment, including pushback tractors, baggage tugs, and portable stairs.
- Ensure timely delivery of baggage to carousels and smooth passenger flow.
- Communicate effectively with pilots, air traffic control, and other ground personnel.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, operational procedures, and aviation regulations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or irregular occurrences immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the ramp area and associated equipment.
Required Skills
- Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy luggage (up to 23kg) repeatedly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Flexibility to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Valid driver's license (Mauritius Class 3 minimum).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in airport operations, logistics, or a physically demanding role.
- Knowledge of aviation safety procedures and protocols.
- Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., French, Hindi, Mandarin) besides English.
- Certificate or diploma in aviation operations or a related field.
- Experience operating ground support equipment.
