Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive airfield and terminal inspections, identifying and reporting any hazards, discrepancies, or maintenance needs.
  • Monitor airfield conditions, including runway, taxiway, and apron surfaces, for FOD (Foreign Object Debris), wildlife, and other potential obstructions.
  • Respond promptly to all airfield and terminal emergencies, including aircraft incidents, medical emergencies, security breaches, and hazardous material spills, acting as the initial on-scene commander until relieved.
  • Enforce airport rules and regulations, FAA and TSA directives, and local operating procedures to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Coordinate with air traffic control, airlines, ground handlers, and various airport tenants regarding operational issues, gate assignments, and special requests.
  • Prepare detailed reports and logs of all daily activities, incidents, and inspections, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Operate airport vehicles and communication equipment as required for daily duties and emergency response.
  • Assist in snow removal operations and other weather-related airfield management tasks during inclement conditions.
  • Participate in emergency drills and training sessions to maintain readiness and proficiency.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assistance to airport users, staff, and passengers as needed.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in airport operations, aviation, public safety, or a related field.
  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays, and be available for on-call duty.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and coordination.
  • Proven ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure during emergency situations.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge and all necessary certifications.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and radio communication.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, climb, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with Part 139 airfield operations or FAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of airport emergency plans and incident command systems (ICS).
  • Familiarity with wildlife management techniques on airfields.
  • Certification in Basic First Aid and CPR.
