Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail onto and off aircraft, adhering to weight and balance instructions.
- Operate various ground support equipment (GSE) including pushback tractors, baggage tugs, belt loaders, and ground power units (GPU).
- Marshall aircraft to and from gates, providing clear and precise hand signals to pilots.
- Perform wing walker duties, ensuring safe clearance around aircraft during movement.
- Conduct pre-departure and post-arrival checks on aircraft and ground areas, reporting any discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, dispatchers, and other ground personnel via two-way radios.
- Place and remove chocks, safety cones, and grounding cables.
- Assist with aircraft pushback procedures and engine start-up support.
- Maintain a clean and safe ramp environment, including debris removal and equipment checks.
- Adhere strictly to all company, airport, and federal safety regulations and procedures.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a valid Driver's License and have a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearances and an SIDA badge.
- Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 70 pounds regularly.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an airport operations or ground handling role.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or ground support equipment (GSE).
- Familiarity with aircraft types and ramp safety procedures.
- A strong understanding of aviation security protocols.
