Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examination, and risk stratification.
- Develop and implement tailored anesthetic care plans for surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures.
- Administer general, regional, local, and sedation anesthesia using advanced techniques and monitoring equipment.
- Continuously monitor patient physiological status, vital signs, and anesthetic depth throughout procedures, adjusting as necessary.
- Manage post-operative analgesia, recovery, and address potential complications.
- Collaborate effectively with surgical teams, intensivists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate medical records in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education programs.
- Provide expert consultation on pain management and critical care issues as required.
- Educate patients and their families about anesthetic procedures, risks, and expected recovery outcomes.
Required Skills
- Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in Ontario, Canada.
- Specialist certification in Anesthesiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-residency clinical experience as an Anesthesiologist.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex surgical cases across various specialties.
- Exceptional clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Superior communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sub-specialty fellowship training in areas such as Cardiac Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology, or Regional Anesthesia.
- Experience in an academic teaching hospital setting.
- Active participation in clinical research or medical education.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to Toronto's diverse population.
