Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily cleaning and sanitization of animal enclosures, common areas, and facilities.
- Provide daily feeding, watering, and enrichment activities for all shelter animals according to established schedules and protocols.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any changes or concerns to veterinary technicians or management immediately.
- Assist with animal intake, processing, and record-keeping, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Support adoption processes, including greeting potential adopters, facilitating meet-and-greets, and assisting with paperwork.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining supply inventories.
- Assist with the administration of medications as directed by veterinary staff, ensuring accurate dosage and timing.
- Handle animals safely and humanely, demonstrating knowledge of basic animal handling techniques.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated passion for animal welfare and a strong commitment to their well-being.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and adhere to strict safety and hygiene protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting positively with staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record-keeping.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working or volunteering in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or animal care setting.
