Key Responsibilities
- Actively scout, identify, and sign emerging artists, producers, and songwriters across various genres, with a keen focus on the Hawaiian music landscape and broader industry trends.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, attorneys, and other industry contacts.
- Attend live performances, showcases, open mic nights, and industry events to discover new talent.
- Monitor social media, streaming platforms, and online communities for potential artist breakthroughs.
- Evaluate demo submissions, provide constructive feedback, and assess artistic and commercial viability.
- Collaborate with artists on their creative direction, song selection, and recording process.
- Negotiate and finalize artist agreements, ensuring fair terms and alignment with company objectives.
- Work closely with marketing, publicity, and legal teams to strategize artist development and release plans.
- Stay informed on current music trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on potential signings, market analysis, and artist progress.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in A&R, talent scouting, or artist management within the music industry.
- Demonstrable track record of identifying and signing successful talent.
- Deep understanding of various music genres, current market trends, and the digital music ecosystem.
- Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in music production software and understanding of recording processes is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within Kaanapali, Lahaina, and occasionally nationally.
