Career.zycto is actively seeking a talented and experienced Architect with a strong focus on building design and planning to join a dynamic and forward-thinking architectural practice in Leeds. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual passionate about creating innovative, sustainable, and aesthetically compelling structures that enrich communities and stand the test of time. You will be instrumental in the full project lifecycle, from initial concept development and feasibility studies through to detailed design, planning submissions, and on-site support. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a robust understanding of UK building regulations, and a proven track record in delivering high-quality architectural projects across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
Working within a collaborative studio environment, you will translate client briefs into inspiring designs, prepare comprehensive architectural drawings and specifications, and navigate complex planning processes. Your role will involve engaging with clients, consultants, and contractors, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of design and technical excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the architectural design process from concept through to completion across various project types.
- Develop detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and reports using industry-standard software.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, building control submissions, and other regulatory documentation.
- Conduct site visits, surveys, and feasibility studies to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and local authorities.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
- Mentor junior architectural staff and contribute to the overall development of the design team.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK building regulations, planning policies, and health and safety standards.
- Present design concepts and technical information clearly and persuasively to stakeholders.
Required Skills
- ARB registered Architect (or equivalent international qualification recognized in the UK)
- Minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience in architectural practice in the UK.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop).
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations, planning policy, and construction processes.
- Excellent design capabilities with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse project experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in 3D rendering and visualisation tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- RIBA Part III qualification.
- Experience in sustainable design principles and BREEAM/Passivhaus standards.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2) or demonstrable project leadership experience.
- Experience with NBS Create or similar specification software.
- A track record of successful planning applications in challenging urban contexts.
