Job Description

We are seeking a highly talented and experienced Architect to join our vibrant design and planning team in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. This pivotal role requires a creative visionary with a strong understanding of building regulations, sustainable design principles, and project lifecycle management. You will be instrumental in transforming initial concepts into detailed designs, collaborating with clients, engineers, and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards, on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual design, detailed design, and technical drawing phases of diverse architectural projects, ensuring adherence to client briefs and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present design proposals, reports, and presentations to clients, stakeholders, and planning authorities.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and feasibility studies to assess project potential and inform design solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including structural engineers, M&E consultants, and landscape architects.
  • Oversee the production of planning applications, building control submissions, and tender documentation.
  • Ensure all designs comply with UK building regulations, health and safety standards, and sustainable design practices.
  • Mentor junior architectural staff and contribute to the overall knowledge sharing and development within the team.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently to ensure successful project delivery.

Required Skills

  • ARB registered Architect with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in the UK.
  • Proficiency in architectural software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in various project types (residential, commercial, mixed-use).
  • In-depth knowledge of UK building regulations, planning policies, and construction processes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of sustainable design principles and their practical application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • RIBA chartered Architect.
  • Experience with BIM methodologies and software (e.g., ArchiCAD).
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) for graphic presentations.
  • Experience in client relationship management and business development.
  • Knowledge of local planning context within the West Midlands region.
