Job Description
We are seeking a highly creative and technically proficient Architect with a strong focus on design and planning to join our dynamic team in Vacoas-Phoenix. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a diverse range of projects, from large-scale commercial developments to intricate residential complexes and public infrastructure. As an Architect specializing in design and planning, you will be instrumental in translating client visions into innovative and practical architectural solutions. Your role will encompass the entire design process, from conceptualization and schematic design to detailed planning, documentation, and coordination with various stakeholders. You will be expected to demonstrate exceptional design sensibility, a deep understanding of building codes and regulations, and a commitment to sustainable and resilient design principles. Collaboration is key at Mott MacDonald; you will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams including engineers, urban planners, and environmental specialists to ensure integrated and holistic project delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the conceptualization, design, and planning phases of architectural projects from inception to completion.
- Develop detailed architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents using industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).
- Conduct site analyses, feasibility studies, and spatial programming to inform design decisions.
- Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and international standards.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams (structural engineers, MEP engineers, landscape architects, etc.) to achieve project goals.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, reports, and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
- Oversee the selection and specification of materials, finishes, and systems, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
- Mentor junior architects and technicians, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
- Conduct site visits and inspections during construction phases to ensure design intent is accurately executed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in architectural design and planning.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp; familiarity with rendering software (e.g., V-Ray, Enscape).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating creative design ability and technical proficiency.
- In-depth knowledge of Mauritian building codes, regulations, and planning policies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional registration with the Architects Council of Mauritius (ACM) or equivalent.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies and software.
- LEED AP or other green building certification.
- Experience in sustainable design practices and energy-efficient building solutions.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
