As an Art Gallery Support Staff, you will be the welcoming face of our gallery, playing a crucial role in creating an engaging and memorable experience for every visitor. Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome all visitors to the gallery, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
  • Provide engaging information about the artworks, artists, and the cultural significance of the pieces.
  • Assist customers with inquiries, guide them through the gallery, and help them find suitable artworks.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handle cash and card payments.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal of the gallery space and displays.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving, tagging, and tracking artworks.
  • Support the preparation and setup for special events, exhibitions, or workshops as needed.
  • Perform light administrative duties such as answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining customer records.
  • Ensure the security of artworks and the general safety of the gallery premises.
  • Adhere to all gallery policies and procedures, contributing to a professional and harmonious work environment.

Required Skills

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for art, culture, and local craftsmanship.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer proficiency for sales processing and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a retail, gallery, museum, or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of Zanzibari or Tanzanian art and cultural history.
  • Proficiency in Swahili or other local languages.
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
