Are you a highly motivated and certified Athletic Trainer with a passion for optimizing athlete health and performance? As an Athletic Trainer, you will be the cornerstone of injury prevention, recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation for our athletes. Your role will involve implementing comprehensive athletic training programs tailored to different sports and individual needs, providing immediate on-field and clinical care for acute injuries, and developing individualized rehabilitation plans that facilitate a safe and swift return to play. You will collaborate closely with coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, acting as a vital link in the integrated care team to ensure holistic athlete development. This position demands a proactive approach, excellent diagnostic skills, and the ability to educate athletes, coaches, and parents on proper techniques, nutrition, hydration, and recovery strategies to minimize injury risk and enhance performance.

You’ll be instrumental in promoting a culture of safety and performance, ensuring that our athletes receive the highest standard of care both on and off the field. Your day-to-day will be diverse, ranging from sideline coverage during training sessions and competitions, including evenings and weekends as required, to conducting detailed clinical assessments, applying therapeutic modalities, and overseeing progressive exercise programs in a dedicated facility. You’ll be responsible for meticulously maintaining detailed medical records, managing athletic training supplies and equipment, and ensuring strict compliance with all local and national health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate care for athletic injuries and illnesses, including emergency first aid and CPR.
  • Perform comprehensive injury assessments, evaluation, and diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injured athletes.
  • Design and execute injury prevention programs, including pre-participation screenings and strength & conditioning guidance.
  • Collaborate with physicians, coaches, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated athlete care.
  • Educate athletes, coaches, and parents on proper techniques, nutrition, hydration, and recovery methods.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records of all injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress.
  • Manage athletic training facilities, inventory supplies, and ensure equipment maintenance.
  • Provide sideline coverage for practices, games, and events, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and organizational regulations and protocols.

Required Skills

  • Certified Athletic Trainer (or equivalent local certification)
  • Proficiency in injury assessment, diagnosis, and treatment protocols
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform emergency care, including CPR and First Aid
  • Experience with various therapeutic modalities (e.g., ultrasound, electrical stimulation)
  • Skill in taping, bracing, and protective equipment application
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with diverse athletic populations
  • Experience with specific sports (e.g., football, basketball, track & field)
  • Fluency in Portuguese (official language of Mozambique)
  • Knowledge of local sports regulations and governing bodies
  • Experience in a multicultural or international sports environment
