Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting on a wide range of vehicle makes and models using specialised equipment.
- Repair, replace, and install automotive electrical components, wiring harnesses, alternators, starters, batteries, and electronic systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to identify faults and plan repair strategies.
- Service and repair vehicle computer systems, including engine control units (ECUs), transmission control units (TCUs), and body control modules (BCMs).
- Install and service vehicle accessories, alarms, audio systems, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
- Conduct thorough testing of repaired systems to ensure proper functionality and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of all diagnostic tests, repairs performed, and parts used.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Stay updated with the latest automotive electrical technologies, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques through continuous learning.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Auto Electrician with strong diagnostic capabilities.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Expertise in using advanced diagnostic tools and software (e.g., scan tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters).
- Thorough understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems (CAN bus, LIN bus, ECUs, sensors).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop environment.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with colleagues and, occasionally, customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical certification or diploma in Automotive Electrical Systems.
- Experience with specific automotive brands or multi-brand diagnostic platforms.
- Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) electrical systems.
- Valid Mauritian driving license.
