Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Auto Electrician with a strong focus on diagnostic service to join our dedicated maintenance team in Nyamagabe. In this critical role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical and electronic systems within our diverse fleet of modern passenger buses. Your expertise will ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our vehicles, directly impacting our operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of automotive electrical principles, advanced diagnostic techniques, and a meticulous approach to problem-solving. This position requires not only the technical prowess to handle intricate wiring and sophisticated control modules but also the ability to interpret complex technical schematics and use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced electrical diagnostics using specialized scan tools, oscilloscopes, and multi-meters to identify faults in vehicle electrical systems.
- Interpret complex wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to accurately troubleshoot issues.
- Repair and replace faulty wiring, connectors, sensors, actuators, control modules (ECUs), and other electrical components.
- Conduct thorough inspections and preventative maintenance on batteries, alternators, starters, lighting systems, and onboard electronic systems.
- Diagnose and rectify issues related to CAN bus networks, ABS, EBS, air conditioning, infotainment, and other vehicle control systems.
- Ensure all electrical repairs comply with manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and local regulations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all diagnostic procedures, repairs performed, and parts used.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and collaborate with the mechanical team.
- Stay abreast of new automotive electrical technologies, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques through continuous professional development.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in automotive electrical diagnostic procedures.
- Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic equipment (scan tools, oscilloscopes, multi-meters).
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams and schematics.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, including CAN bus, multiplexing, and sensor technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an Auto Electrician in a workshop setting.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Diploma or Vocational Certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or a related field.
- Experience specifically with heavy-duty commercial vehicles or buses (e.g., Scania, Mercedes, Toyota).
- ASE certification in Electrical/Electronic Systems or equivalent international certification.
- Familiarity with specific diagnostic software used for fleet management.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English.
