Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks on buses and light vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and personal expertise.
- Repair and replace faulty parts, components, and systems such such as engines, transmissions, differentials, braking systems, and suspension systems.
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team and communicate effectively regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to junior technicians when required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Auto Technician, preferably with heavy commercial vehicles or buses.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical, and braking systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driving license (Class BCE or equivalent is a plus).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, or a related field.
- Certification from a recognized automotive body.
- Experience with fleet maintenance management systems.
- Knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to vehicle maintenance in Kenya.
