Job Description

Career.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and motivated Automation QA Engineer to join our growing team in Horfield Common, Bristol. As an Automation QA Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest quality standards are met across our entire software development lifecycle, from initial concept to deployment and beyond. You will work closely with development, product management, and other QA professionals to define, design, and implement automated testing strategies that are scalable, efficient, and comprehensive, driving significant improvements in our release cycles and product stability.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust automation frameworks, writing clear and concise test scripts using modern programming languages, executing automated tests across various platforms, and meticulously reporting on defects with detailed steps to reproduce. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test scripts and frameworks using industry-standard tools and programming languages.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to integrate automated testing into continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Execute automated test suites, analyze results, and accurately report defects with clear steps for reproduction and detailed contextual information.
  • Participate actively in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), advocating for quality and best testing practices.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test strategies for new features, ensuring thorough coverage.
  • Perform various types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing, to ensure software reliability.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies within the team.
  • Stay current with emerging testing tools, technologies, and industry trends to enhance our automation capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress).
  • Expertise in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, JavaScript).
  • Proven experience with API testing tools and methodologies (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and concepts (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
  • Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Solid understanding of Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Experience with SQL and database testing for data validation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • ISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and security testing principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience working in a Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD) environment.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
