Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance on automated production equipment, including robotics, PLCs, conveyors, and advanced sensor systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues in industrial automation systems.
- Execute precise repairs, adjustments, and calibrations to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Install, configure, and commission new automation equipment and system upgrades, ensuring seamless integration.
- Interpret complex electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and PLC logic to facilitate effective troubleshooting and repairs.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to identify root causes of failures and implement sustainable long-term solutions.
- Program, modify, and optimize PLC (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Beckhoff TwinCAT) and HMI interfaces.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, spare parts inventory, and equipment histories.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and rigorous quality standards at all times.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest innovative enhancements for system reliability, efficiency, and safety.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as an Automation Technician or a similar hands-on role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
- Strong foundational knowledge of PLC programming, diagnostics, and troubleshooting (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000 is highly beneficial).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
- Solid understanding of industrial control systems, VFDs, servos, sensors, actuators, and motor control principles.
- Demonstrable experience with robotic systems (e.g., KUKA, FANUC, ABB) is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and a methodical, systematic approach to fault diagnosis.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for technical reporting and team collaboration.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training (Facharbeiter/in) or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a closely related technical field.
- Experience with industrial vision systems and various industrial communication networks (e.g., Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP).
- Proficiency in the German language (B2 level or higher) to effectively communicate with local teams and documentation.
- Certification in specific PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens Certified Professional) or robotics programming.
- Prior experience working in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment.
