Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the loading and unloading of baggage and cargo from aircraft, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Perform marshalling duties, guiding aircraft to and from parking positions safely.
- Operate and maintain ground support equipment (e.g., pushback tractors, baggage tugs, belt loaders) responsibly.
- Chock aircraft wheels upon arrival and remove chocks prior to departure.
- Conduct visual inspections of aircraft exterior for any damage or irregularities and report findings promptly.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the ramp area, disposing of waste appropriately.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, airline representatives, and other ground personnel using standard aviation phraseology.
- Assist passengers with special needs or inquiries as directed by airline staff, particularly regarding baggage.
- Adhere to all airport security regulations and safety standards at all times.
- Participate in mandatory training and certification programs as required by regulatory bodies and the company.
Required Skills
- Minimum of SSCE/WASSCE Certificate or equivalent.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a high sense of responsibility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of airport safety and security procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and shifts.
- Valid driver’s license (Class E) for operating ground support equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a logistics, warehouse, or airport ground handling environment.
- Knowledge of basic aviation terminology and operations.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Proficiency in operating specialized ground support equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow complex instructions and procedures.
