Career.zycto is seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Aviation Ground Staff Assistant to join our client’s dedicated team in Onitsha, Anambra State. As an Aviation Ground Staff Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of aircraft ground movements and passenger services. Your responsibilities will range from handling luggage and cargo with care, guiding aircraft on the tarmac, to assisting passengers with their needs, ensuring a positive travel experience. This position requires strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in baggage handling, loading, and unloading luggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft, ensuring proper weight distribution and security.
- Marshal aircraft on the ramp, guiding pilots during pushback, parking, and gate arrival/departure procedures.
- Operate and maintain ground support equipment (GSE) such as baggage tractors, cargo loaders, and pushback tugs, following all safety protocols.
- Provide exceptional customer service to passengers, assisting with boarding, deplaning, and inquiries.
- Perform routine safety checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the ramp, gate areas, and equipment.
- Coordinate with flight crews, air traffic control, and other ground personnel to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Adhere strictly to all aviation safety regulations, security procedures, and company policies.
Required Skills
- SSCE/GCE/NECO or equivalent educational qualification.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy luggage (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- High level of reliability and punctuality.
- Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or customer service.
- Basic knowledge of aviation terminology or operations.
- Valid driver's license (an advantage for operating certain GSE).
- Certification in basic first aid or safety procedures.
