Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads, rolls, and specialty items according to established recipes and production schedules.
- Accurately measure and mix ingredients, operating commercial mixers and other bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor dough proofing, oven temperatures, and baking times to ensure consistent quality and desired texture.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, strictly adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP, local health codes).
- Assist with inventory management of raw ingredients and finished baked goods.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with baking equipment; report larger issues to management.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet daily production targets and maintain a positive, productive work environment.
- Perform routine quality checks on all baked goods, ensuring they meet our high standards for appearance, taste, and consistency.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Baker, specifically within a bread production or artisan bakery setting.
- Strong knowledge of baking principles and techniques, including dough fermentation, proofing, and shaping.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain commercial bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, proofers).
- Thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy bags of ingredients (up to 50 lbs), and work in a hot environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow recipes precisely.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary degree or certificate in baking and pastry arts.
- Experience with sourdough starters and other artisan bread techniques.
- Familiarity with various types of commercial ovens and proofers.
- Current Food Handler's Permit or relevant food safety certification.
- Previous experience in a high-volume production bakery environment.
