Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Baker/Pastry Chef in all aspects of daily baking operations, focusing on early morning production.
- Prepare, bake, and finish a variety of bread, rolls, croissants, muffins, cakes, tarts, and other pastry items according to established recipes and standards.
- Measure and mix ingredients, operate bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, proofers, etc.) safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all baked goods meet strict quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
- Monitor inventory levels of baking ingredients and supplies, reporting shortages to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, ensuring compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Adhere to production schedules to ensure timely delivery of fresh products for breakfast service and other hotel outlets.
- Assist with decorating and garnishing pastries and desserts for aesthetic appeal.
- Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality output.
- Participate in daily cleaning duties and ensure proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Baker Assistant or similar role in a bakery, hotel, or restaurant setting.
- Strong understanding of baking principles, techniques, and pastry production.
- Proficiency in using standard bakery equipment and tools.
- Ability to work effectively in an early morning shift, demonstrating reliability and punctuality.
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality baked goods.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy ingredients/equipment.
