Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Investigate and resolve all discrepancies between bank statements and general ledger entries, including unrecorded transactions, outstanding checks, and deposits in transit.
- Prepare reconciliation reports and present findings to senior accounting management.
- Liaise with internal departments (e.g., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable) and external banking partners to gather necessary information and resolve reconciliation issues.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of reconciliation activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies related to cash management and financial reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, providing supporting documentation for audits.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all reconciliation activities and supporting documentation.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in bank reconciliations or a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with large volume transaction reconciliation.
- Knowledge of Canadian banking practices and financial regulations.
- Enrollment in or completion of a recognized accounting designation (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an asset.
