Key Responsibilities
- Set up banquet rooms according to event specifications, including tables, chairs, linens, tableware, and decorations, ensuring precision and aesthetic appeal.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and courteously to guests, adhering strictly to established service standards and protocols.
- Clear tables efficiently and discreetly during and after events, minimizing disruption to guests.
- Assist with the breakdown of event spaces, ensuring all equipment is properly stored, inventoried, and rooms are reset for future use in an organized manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment throughout the event, including service areas and back-of-house operations.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond to inquiries or requests in a professional, timely, and helpful manner, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, event coordinators, and other team members to ensure smooth event flow and impeccable service delivery.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including proper food handling practices and sanitation procedures.
- Handle guest complaints or issues with professionalism and tact, escalating to management when necessary for swift resolution.
- Be punctual and prepared for all assigned shifts, maintaining a positive, energetic, and professional attitude throughout the event.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 months' previous experience in a hospitality or customer service role, preferably banqueting or food and beverage service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact politely and effectively with guests and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, maintaining composure and efficiency.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, critical for precise setup and service.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift, and carry trays/equipment safely and efficiently.
- A positive attitude, proactive approach, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per event schedules.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices to ensure guest well-being.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field, demonstrating a foundational understanding of the industry.
- Experience with various serving styles (e.g., plated, buffet, family-style), showcasing versatility.
- Fluency in both English and French, enhancing communication with a diverse clientele.
- Knowledge of local F&B regulations and service standards in Mauritius.
