Job Description

Are you a dynamic and experienced Bar Supervisor with a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences and leading a high-performing team? Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated individual to join a vibrant lounge environment in Kawangware, Nairobi. This pivotal role involves overseeing all bar operations, ensuring impeccable service standards, efficient inventory management, and fostering a positive and productive work atmosphere. As a Bar Supervisor, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day running of the lounge bar, from opening to closing procedures, staff scheduling, and training, to ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. We are looking for someone who can not only manage operations but also inspire their team to deliver outstanding customer service consistently. You will be responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels, minimizing wastage, and upholding the aesthetic and cleanliness standards of the bar area. This role demands a proactive leader who can handle customer inquiries and complaints with grace, implement promotional activities, and contribute to the overall profitability and reputation of the establishment. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the bar and lounge, ensuring smooth service flow.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate bar staff to achieve high standards of service and product knowledge.
  • Manage bar inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and conducting regular stock takes to minimize wastage.
  • Develop and implement creative cocktail menus and beverage offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, as well as liquor licensing laws.
  • Handle cash management, including till reconciliation and daily financial reporting.
  • Address customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Oversee bar equipment maintenance and ensure proper functionality.
  • Implement promotional activities and events to attract and retain customers.
  • Monitor staff performance, conduct appraisals, and facilitate ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting bar and lounge environment at all times.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in bar supervision or management within a hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cocktail preparation, and bar service standards.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Sound understanding of health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Basic computer literacy for POS systems and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Service, or a related field.
  • Experience with POS (Point of Sale) systems specific to bars/restaurants.
  • Fluent in Swahili and English.
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
