Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, latte, cappuccino, and specialty drinks, adhering to Java House's quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and process payments using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Provide exceptional customer service by anticipating needs, answering questions about menu items, and resolving concerns efficiently and courteously.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee bar area, including restocking supplies, cleaning utensils, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other ingredients, reporting shortages to management.
- Assist with light food preparation, such as pastries, sandwiches, or other menu items, as required.
- Educate customers about coffee origins, brewing methods, and flavor profiles to enhance their coffee experience.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately, ensuring proper till management.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Barista or in a similar coffee shop role.
- Proficiency in operating espresso machines and grinders.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and recipes.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills and experience with cash handling/POS systems.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Food hygiene certification or willingness to obtain one.
